Hi TBCYC Choristers & families,

Thank you all for registering for the Toronto Beaches Children’s & Youth Chorus (TBCYC) for the Fall.  

We are all really looking forward to seeing you in September and have lots of fun singing and drama events planned for our 2023/2024 season.

Important Dates for 2023 – 2024

All our rehearsals will be at Kingston Road United Church, 975 Kingston Road at the intersection of Kingston Road and Scarborough Road.

Fall Term: Wednesday 13 September or Thursday 14 September 2023 until Wednesday 29 November or Thursday 30 November 2023

Note: The Auditions for Spring Musical for Cantabile, Chamber & Youth will be on Wednesday 6 or 13 or Thursday 7 or 14 December 2023.   This is only for choristers who want a role in the musical.  All other choristers will be ensemble members.

Winter Term: Wednesday 10 January or Thursday 11 January 2024 until Wednesday 6 March or Thursday 7 March 2024

Spring Term : Wednesday 20 March or 21 March 2024 until Wednesday 5 June or Thursday 6 June 2024

Note: The dates above reflect our regular season but we do sometimes have to extend these dates and add in extra rehearsals depending on concerts and engagements.

Concert Dates for 2023-2024 Season & times

• Winter Melodies Concert on Saturday 2 December at 4pm & 7pm concerts at Kingston Road United Church
• Senior Treble Festival for COMP on Saturday, March 2 at Metropolitan United Church.
• Spring Musical (tbc) at the Papermill Theatre on Friday 10 May, Saturday 11 May & Sunday May 12, 2024 
• dress rehearsals will be held on Wednesday 8 & Thursday 9 May

• Sing Into Summer Concert on Sunday 9 June at 4pm at Kingston Road United Church (tbc)

Start dates & times

The start date for Wednesday Piccolo, Wednesday Prelude & Cantabile Choristers will be Wednesday 13 September and the start date for Thursday Piccolo, Thursday Prelude, Chamber & Youth as well as COMP will be Thursday 14 September:

• Piccolo – 4:30pm to 5:10pm on Wednesday or Thursdays for JK & SK – Fall Term $198, Winter Term $150 & the Spring Term $182
• Prelude – 4:45pm to 5:30pm on Wednesdays or Thursdays for Grade 1 & 2 – $550 (two installments of $275)
• Cantabile – 5:30pm to 6:30pm on Wednesdays for Grade 3 & 4 – $695 (two installments of $347.50)
• Chamber – 5:15pm to 6:30pm on Thursdays for Grade 5 & 6 – $795 (two installments of $397.50) – note the slight time change
• Youth – 7:30pm to 8:45pm on Thursdays for Grade 7 & up – $795 (two installments of $397.50)
• COMP Choir – 6:45pm to 7:30pm on Thursdays with 2 hour rehearsals two Sundays a term dates to be announced in the Fall term – $450 (two installments of $225) tentative schedule-Oct 15 & Nov 13 for fall dates.

Retreat for Chamber & Youth Divisions September 23-24, 2023

In September our Chamber and Youth divisions will be going on a Retreat to Cedar Glen which we really encourage everyone to attend -It is a great way to get a head start on our music & drama, renew and make new friendships and enjoy the activities at Cedar Glen. Please save the date.and we will send out the google link to sign up in our August email 

• Chamber Retreat on Saturday 23, September: Drop off 9:30am & pick up 4:00pm Fee $50 for the day which includes lunch and snacks.
• Youth Sleepover Retreat on Saturday 23 to Sunday 24 September – Drop off 9:30am and pick up 1:00pm for Youth on Sunday 24 September 2023. Fee $ 145 for the overnight Retreat.  We also have a guest artist coming to work with the kids on Sunday morning.

Fees & Payment information

Thank you to all those who have sent in your fees already,  we really appreciate it.  If you have yet to do so, please send your first installment by August 15.  Payments can be made via etransfer to info@tbcyc.com or by cheque made out to TBCYC and sent to 975 Kingston Road Toronto, On M4E 1T1.  If paying by cheque, please do let us know in advance on your registration form under comments. 

Please note that for our Piccolo and Prelude divisions, the numbers are capped due to the age of the children, payment must be received for registration to be complete. 

TBCYC T-SHIRT ORDERS

We will be giving out the T-shirts ordered later in the month of September, during choir.

WEEKLY UPDATES

We normally send a weekly email out to all divisions starting in September.  Please make sure that you are receiving these emails and let us know right away if you are not.  More details of our plans for Fall will be sent out at the end of August.
